New Visibility Technology for Refrigerated Cargo

Mediterranean Shipping Co. (MSC) has introduced a new tracking system called iReefer to enhance its refrigerated cargo services. The system provides shippers with real-time updates on the location and temperature of their refrigerated shipments. The Geneva-based carrier said it has equipped over 210,000 refrigerated containers and more than 500 vessels with this new technology.

MSC transports over 1 million refrigerated containers annually and aims to equip its entire container and vessel fleet with this technology in the coming years. Giuseppe Prudente, MSC's logistics chief, stated that "iReefer was designed with our customers in mind."

This new technology increases transparency in refrigerated cargo transportation, allowing shippers to monitor the condition of their products more closely. In this way, potential issues can be detected early, protecting product quality and safety.
