DP World Launches Digital Port Community System in Kenya

DP World has begun deploying a Port Community System (PCS) in Kenya to increase trade efficiency and strengthen transparency.

This digital infrastructure is regarded as a significant milestone in the modernization of Mombasa Port. The country, surrounded by more than 12 landlocked nations in East and Central Africa, routes a large portion of its foreign trade through this port.

Shared Digital Platform for Public and Private Sector

The PCS was jointly developed with EMEA Port Logistics and implemented in collaboration with the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and the Kenyan Government.

Although DP World does not operate Mombasa Port, the system will serve both public and private sector users.

The new platform provides importers, exporters, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics firms with tools including cargo tracking, gate reservations, invoicing, payment processing, and real-time updates under a single platform.

30% Faster Customs and Operational Efficiency

Once the system is fully operational, customs processing times for cargo are expected to be reduced by up to 30%.

This will deliver significant time savings in transaction processing for more than 3,000 users annually.

For the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), the PCS will facilitate streamlining gate operations, better control of cargo movements, and reducing dwell times at the port.

This will strengthen Mombasa's position as a strategic maritime hub connecting East and Central Africa to global markets.

Digital Transformation Push in African Trade

DP World's PCS investment is part of its strategy to accelerate digital commerce and logistics transformation in Africa.

The company aims to strengthen connections between ports through digital platforms, thereby advancing supply chain integration across the continent.

DP World is a global logistics and supply chain company headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

It operates ports, terminals, industrial parks, and logistics services in more than 60 countries worldwide.
