CMA CGM and Edison Complete Italy's First LNG Ship-to-Ship Bunkering in Trieste
CMA CGM and Edison have successfully completed Italy's first LNG ship-to-ship (STS) bunkering operation at the Port of Trieste. This operation is regarded as a strategic turning point in the development of the country's LNG fuel bunkering infrastructure.
The bunkering took place aboard the LNG-fueled container vessel CMA CGM SALAMANQUE, supplied by the Ravenna Knutsen, an LNG bunkering vessel operated by Edison. The successful completion of the operation has demonstrated the commercial and technical viability of the LNG supply chain in the Adriatic region.

Fabrizio Mattana, Vice President of Gas Assets at Edison, emphasized that the Trieste operation has proven the company's LNG logistics capacity:
"The first container vessel LNG bunkering in the Adriatic is an indicator of the operational flexibility Edison has achieved in recent years and our capacity to create new market segments in Italy."
Edison, by expanding its LNG production and distribution infrastructure, stands as one of the key players supporting Italy's energy transition. The Ravenna Knutsen is considered the backbone of the future LNG network for the country's maritime fuel supply.
