CEVA Logistics Acquires Heavy Hauling Specialist Fagioli Group

Sedat Onat
Detailed sector overview addressing CEVA Logistics' acquisition of Fagioli Group, providing end-to-end competency in heavy hauling, project logistics, and complex cargo operations

Global logistics player CEVA Logistics has signed an agreement to acquire 100 percent of Italy-based Fagioli Group, aimed at expanding its capabilities in project logistics and heavy hauling. The transaction is subject to necessary regulatory approvals, and financial details have not been disclosed. The move demonstrates CEVA's progression toward a stronger position in complex, engineered logistics projects.

Fagioli Group is recognized globally as a project logistics specialist in engineered transportation, heavy hauling, and lifting operations. The company manages some of the world's most complex project cargo within large-scale infrastructure, energy, and industrial projects. In 2024, Fagioli generated revenue of 251 million USD, demonstrating its strong position in a niche but high-value-added market segment.

The acquisition brings approximately 450 Fagioli employees into the CEVA organization, including more than 40 engineers in technical and managerial roles. Through this merger, CEVA gains the capacity to manage the full spectrum of project logistics activities—from early planning, design, transportation, delivery, to final installation—under one roof. This integrated approach mitigates the coordination and accountability fragmentation risks commonly encountered in project-based freight transportation.

CEVA Logistics currently operates global project logistics with support from more than 1,000 specialists. However, Fagioli's engineering know-how and owned equipment fleet bring operational execution strength to this structure. Particularly in heavy and oversized cargo transportation, equipment ownership provides a critical competitive advantage in operational flexibility and schedule control.

Fagioli's equipment portfolio encompasses crawler cranes, gantry cranes, strand jacks, self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs), specialized trailers, barges, and other advanced vehicles used in large-scale project transport. These assets enable CEVA to develop not only planning and coordination capabilities but also direct field execution competency in project logistics. Additionally, Fagioli maintains long-standing relationships with engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firms and industrial customers, deepening CEVA's market access in Europe, Asia Pacific, and North America.

CEVA Logistics CEO Mathieu Friedberg emphasizes that Fagioli's industry reputation and corporate values played a decisive role in the acquisition decision. According to Friedberg, integrating Fagioli's technical expertise into CEVA—part of CMA CGM Group—significantly strengthens the company's capacity to deliver state-of-the-art, end-to-end solutions to customers.

This move represents a continuation of CEVA's strategic initiatives since joining CMA CGM Group in 2019. During this period, the company acquired Bolloré Logistics and developed a more integrated structure with CMA CGM in freight management. The Fagioli acquisition stands out as a step that deepens vertical integration, particularly in project logistics.

Fagioli Group CEO Fernando Bertoni notes that CEVA's global network will provide Fagioli with stronger access-to-market, local expertise, and financial support. This structure accelerates Fagioli's long-term growth objectives and enables the company to access larger-scale projects on a global basis.
