TransContainer has announced the installation of a new 45-ton capacity gantry crane at its terminal located at the Pridacha railway station in Voronezh. The new equipment enables stacking containers up to 4 units high and handling trains on two railway tracks simultaneously.

The crane installation has expanded the terminal's railway front by 46 percent, increasing railcar capacity from 25 to 46 units. This development will significantly accelerate train handling speed and boost regional logistics flow. TransContainer operates over 50 terminals across Russia and holds a critical position as a railway container operator along the Trans-Siberian Railway corridor.

The terminal reconstruction project was launched in 2024, and the first stage has now been completed. The second stage will focus on refurbishing the storage yard. Upon project completion, the terminal's annual capacity will increase by 20.4 percent to 55,200 TEU. The Voronezh terminal serves as a key logistics hub in Central Russia, supporting freight flows along the Moscow-South corridor.

TransContainer has been strengthening its terminal network to capitalize on growing traffic along the China-Europe railway corridor. The company reported a significant increase in container handling volumes at key terminals along the Trans-Siberian Railway in the first quarter of 2026. The Voronezh investment reflects this strategy's implementation in the Central Russia region.

The new crane meets industry standards comparable to Liebherr or ZPMC equipment and can achieve an average daily handling capacity of 200-250 containers. Once terminal modernization is complete, Voronezh will form the backbone of TransContainer's Southern strategic corridor alongside terminals in Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don.
