Oleg Belozyorov has been re-appointed CEO and Chairman of the Board of Russian Railways (RZD) for the next five years. According to the RF Government press office, the decision was formalised by an order signed by Premier Mikhail Mishustin. Belozyorov secured the opportunity to continue leading one of Russia's largest state-owned companies.

Belozyorov was appointed President of Russian Railways in 2015 and, after this position was renamed in 2017, became CEO of the company. He was re-appointed in 2021 for a 5-year period. This latest appointment extends his total 10 years of uninterrupted leadership to 15. He is credited with leading the restructuring of Russia's rail sector during the war and sanctions era.

Before this appointment, Belozyorov's career included serving as head of the RF Federal Road Agency during 2004-2009. He then held the position of Deputy Minister of Transport. This experience makes him an expert on both road and rail infrastructure issues. RZD is grappling with challenges in 2025 including an aging wagon fleet and declining loading volumes; Belozyorov's reappointment highlights the continuity Moscow affords the sector.
