Saudi Arabia's Minister of Transport Al-Jasser, together with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) and the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), launched the Logistics Corridors Initiative to handle containers and cargo redirected from the Kingdom's Eastern Region ports to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Within the scope of the initiative, the western coast's main gateway, Jeddah Islamic Port, plays a key role in receiving redirected shipments from the Eastern Region ports. Through bonded warehouse zones, importers and exporters gain operational flexibility by deferring customs and tax obligations.
ZATCA's Eng. Abanmi emphasized that the corridors are an important step in integrating customs and logistics procedures. Mawani President Al-Mazroua said the infrastructure is fully capable of managing redirected cargo flows.
