Turkey Sees Record Surge in Corporate Mergers

Turkey experienced a record surge in corporate mergers and acquisitions during 2023.

According to KPMG Turkey's "Mergers and Acquisitions Trends 2023" report, the transaction volume reached $2.7 billion as of end-November. Compared to the same period the previous year, the number of transactions rose significantly from 205 to 486. This figure was 338 in 2021 and 263 in 2020. While optimistic expectations remain for 2024, robust interest is anticipated in the technology, media, telecommunications, energy, and industrial manufacturing sectors.

Notable major transactions included TOFAŞ acquiring Stellantis Automotive in a $439.1 million deal and İş Bankası purchasing a 50% stake in Greeneco Energy Electricity Generation for $130.9 million​.
