Volvo Autonomous Solutions has signed a strategic partnership with Waabi , a developer of autonomous driving technologies. Under this collaboration, Waabi's virtual driver system will be integrated into Volvo's VNL Autonomous truck model, which will be manufactured at Volvo's New River Valley assembly facility in Virginia.
Waabi's artificial intelligence-powered system enables vehicles to adapt to different driving conditions and road scenarios. Raquel Urtasun, founder and CEO of Waabi, stated that the technology developed by the company is not limited to truck transportation alone, and will be used in other areas such as robotaxi and humanoid robots in the future.
Additionally, Waabi World, Waabi's digital simulation system, is being used in training, testing, and validation processes. As a result, within the framework of the partnership with Uber Freight, commercial pilot deployments involving human drivers are planned to launch in Texas within four years.
