Through the new GEP digital procurement and supply chain platform, US Steel aims to enhance operational efficiency and visibility by integrating external intelligence into its purchasing processes, particularly for direct materials and commodities. The software also enables cost modeling to support strategic decision-making.

GEP software allows US Steel to analyze spending more effectively, perform cost modeling and forecasting, manage its procurement project portfolio, track savings, and launch relevant RFx/auctions to realize identified savings. Additionally, through automated reporting and data collection, it aims to reduce risks by measuring and monitoring supplier risk and performance.

The software is scheduled to be deployed within the year, with the GEP Sourcing module to be implemented first.
