Sedna Acquires Flytta
Sedna Acquires Flytta
UK-based technology firm Sedna has acquired Flytta, an artificial intelligence-powered workflow automation platform for global commerce and supply chains. The acquisition price was not disclosed.
Flytta was initially developed at Casper Shipping to streamline internal operations and was later commercialized through further development by Seer. The platform's import and export automation workflow is now part of Sedna AI and serves customers including Casper Customs, Pentagon Freight Services, and Mobius Technology.
.
Sedna Chairman Leigh Steed-Middleton noted that the acquisition accelerated the company's artificial intelligence strategy and strengthened its position in delivering value-added workflows tailored to industry-specific needs.
As part of the acquisition, Flytta co-founders Alan Appleyard and Owain Brennan will join the Sedna team. With this expansion, Sedna will open a new office in Middlesbrough, in addition to its existing offices in Athens, Cape Town, Copenhagen, London, and Singapore.
Sedna CEO Bill Dobie stated that the new Middlesbrough office will drive the next wave of artificial intelligence innovation in global commerce by leveraging talent in the North of England. This investment strengthens Sedna's artificial intelligence capabilities while reinforcing the UK's leading position in digital commerce transformation.
Founded in 2017, Sedna was launched to address current email challenges such as email overload, data loss, and siloed operations. Backed by Insight Partners, GK Goh Ventures, Stride.VC, Chalfen Ventures, and SAP, the company counts many leading shipping and logistics firms among its customers, including Bunge, FedNav, Glencore, Oldendorff, Norden, Stena Bulk, and MOL Chemical Tankers.
Sedna recently also acquired Nordic IT, a Copenhagen-based email management specialist. This move strengthened email's position as the primary protocol in shipping while expanding the company's capacity to deliver artificial intelligence-powered, connected solutions.
Sedna plans to launch other artificial intelligence-powered workflows and automations in the near term, such as Noon Report Analysis Automation. These developments further advance the company's mission to connect the maritime ecosystem and transform data into actionable insights.
