Greek maritime technology startup NeptuneZero has secured €500,000 in seed funding to accelerate the rollout of its AI-powered vessel performance and automated reporting platform. The round was led by Corallia Ventures TT alongside angel investors. The Piraeus-based company aims to expand deployments across global fleets and further develop its real-time analytics capabilities.

NeptuneZero has developed a modular platform combining onboard hardware, edge computing and cloud analytics to automate ship reporting and improve operational efficiency. The system captures and validates onboard operational data using AI algorithms, automatically generating daily reports and fleet performance insights. The company claims its technology can reduce fuel consumption and emissions by around 3%, while delivering annual savings exceeding €100,000 per vessel; return on investment is typically achieved within six weeks.

In fleet-wide deployments, the company reports annual fuel savings of around $574,000 across a five-vessel fleet, alongside reduced exposure to EU ETS costs and improved Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) ratings. The startup says it has more than €1m in contracted value and that its systems are deployed across more than 100 vessels through partnerships with Greek and international shipping companies.

From a supply chain perspective, the IMO MEPC 84 Net Zero Framework's December clarification of carbon pricing details and the expansion of EU ETS are creating a vessel-agnostic Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) market. Startups like NeptuneZero — together with rivals such as DNV Veracity, ZeroNorth, Marorka and Nautilus Labs — are effectively building a Maritime Operations Cloud layer. Cargo-owner supply chains are now demanding direct API access to such platforms to meet their Scope 3 reporting obligations.

Key Takeaways:
1. Piraeus-based NeptuneZero raised €500K seed funding led by Corallia Ventures TT.
2. AI-driven modular platform automates daily reporting and delivers ~3% fuel savings.
3. Reported $574K annual savings across a five-vessel fleet; over €100K per vessel per year.
4. Contracted value tops €1M; systems deployed on 100+ vessels.
5. Pressure from EU ETS and CII is building a Maritime Operations Cloud layer (peers: ZeroNorth, Marorka, Nautilus Labs).
