GrayMatter Robotics Opens 100,000-Square-Foot AI Robotics Innovation Center in California

GrayMatter Robotics has officially opened its new 100,000-square-foot global headquarters and innovation center in Carson, California, unveiling what the company describes as the most advanced "interactive robotics experience center" in the United States.

According to the company's announcement, this facility represents a major milestone in the field of AI-powered manufacturing automation at the national level.

The new center houses more than 25 active robotic cells and provides both current and potential customers with the opportunity to experience how "physical AI" technology operates in a real production environment.

Building the Factories of Tomorrow in Carson

Ariyan Kabir, CEO and co-founder of the company, emphasized during the opening ceremony that the new facility is far more than just a headquarters:

"This facility represents our commitment to bringing advanced manufacturing back to American soil and specifically to the South Bay region."

Kabir explained the selection of Carson as driven by proximity to aerospace, maritime, and advanced manufacturing clusters, world-class port infrastructure, and highly skilled workforce availability.

The facility has already created over 100 highly skilled positions in areas including AI, robotics, multidisciplinary engineering, manufacturing operations, and technical support.

The company plans to expand this workforce with hundreds of new positions over the coming years.

Physical AI: The New Generation of Industrial Automation

GrayMatter Robotics is developing a novel technological approach that represents a transition from digital AI to physical AI.
This approach enables artificial intelligence to interact directly with the physical world through robotic systems.

CTO and co-founder Brual Shah described this transformation as follows:

"Visitors can watch a robot that scans a part it has never seen before and programs itself in just one minute, then processes that part with a precision beyond human capability. This is manufacturing intelligence made tangible."

The company's proprietary technology, GMR-AI, operates on a fundamentally different architecture from traditional industrial automation.
Based on physics-informed AI principles, this system requires no manual programming.
The robots, by understanding material properties, geometries, forces, and tool behavior through physical models, can work safely and precisely even with parts they have never encountered before.

"Physical AI" Beyond Digital AI

Prof. Satyandra K. Gupta, Chief Scientist and co-founder of GrayMatter Robotics, defines physical AI as follows:

"Physical AI is not an extension of digital AI; it is an entirely different category.
Language models can generate text, but our AI can autonomously process an aircraft component it has never seen before.
This is the era where artificial intelligence produces real-world results in the physical manufacturing environment."

This vision represents the transition of artificial intelligence from data analysis to the production floor.
GrayMatter Robotics defines the concept of "the factory of the future" as a hybrid manufacturing environment based on human–robot–AI collaboration.

Real-World Production Deployment with Industry Partners

GrayMatter Robotics' technology is already actively deployed in large-scale manufacturers.
Pierce Manufacturing (Oshkosh Corporation), North America's leading fire truck manufacturer, has integrated the company's systems into its production lines.

Bob Schulz, President of Pierce Manufacturing, commented on the partnership:

"The early results we achieved with GrayMatter Robotics encouraged us to implement the systems at scale. When we visited the Carson facility, we saw they have a vision for how we can grow together."

Partnerships of this kind demonstrate the scalability and industry compatibility of GrayMatter Robotics' AI-enabled automation systems.

A New Era in U.S. Manufacturing

The company has accelerated its growth by raising $85 million in venture capital funding in recent times.
The new facility stands as the largest outcome of this investment.

GrayMatter Robotics' objective is to reach global leadership status in the field of "physical AI-enabled manufacturing" in the United States.

The center functions not only as a research, development, and manufacturing hub, but also as an interactive learning laboratory for customers, students, and industry professionals.
