YM Witness Container Ship Departs Evyap Port After Accident
Evyap Port, which experienced a major accident on March 16, sustained significant damage when the 368-metre container ship YM Witness struck the port's cranes during docking manoeuvres, toppling three tower cranes and leaving the facility severely damaged. The fallen crane boom trapped the vessel, limiting its manoeuvrability and forcing it to be held in place with the aid of tugboats offshore from the quay. However, following the incident, the crane boom was lifted today, finally allowing the ship to depart the quay and proceed to anchorage.
