Eng Kong Launches Singapore's First Automated Container Seal Dispensing System

Eng Kong has installed Singapore's first automated container seal dispensing system at its own warehouse, adapting it to the Container Management Systems (CMS) infrastructure. The group plans to expand this system to three other Singapore warehouses by the first quarter of 2025, and eventually to its mega warehouse by the third quarter of 2026.

\n

\n

Spanning 80,000 square meters, Eng Kong's mega warehouse will become Singapore's largest warehouse. The system is expected to deliver significant advantages in efficiency, security, and labor management compared to traditional methods. Container seals are essential for preventing theft and unauthorized access. Eng Kong Container Agencies Pte Ltd has launched Singapore's first fully automated seal dispensing system, reducing the time drivers spend collecting container seals from 30 minutes to just 15 seconds.

\n

\n

The new system allows drivers to remain in their vehicles while automated gate registration, payment processing, and container sealing occur seamlessly—simplifying the process like a drive-through. Eng Kong estimates that this initiative will save up to 50,000 labor hours annually.

\n

\n

Furthermore, Singapore's handling capacity is expected to double by 2040 with the completion of PSA Tuas Port. This innovation will reduce traffic congestion around busy warehouses and enhance driver safety by eliminating the need for them to leave their vehicles.

\n

\n

Paul Ng, Co-Chairman of Eng Kong, stated, "As one of Singapore's largest warehouse operators, we are committed to increasing operational efficiency, reducing dependence on manual labor, and improving the security of our warehouses. As Singapore's warehouses transition to Tuas, which is poised to become the world's largest automated port, investing in automated solutions will ensure that Eng Kong remains at the forefront of this digital transformation."

\n

\n

With the expansion of the new system to other warehouses and the mega warehouse, Eng Kong is expected to achieve significant improvements in operational efficiency and competitiveness. Through these steps, the company aims not only to enhance its own operations but also to contribute to Singapore's goals of becoming a regional logistics hub.
