Climeon has signed an agreement with NovaAlgoma Cement Carriers (NACC) to install its HeatPower 300 system on a newly built 38,000 DWT methanol dual-fuel cement carrier. The system will generate up to 300 kW of sustainable electricity by harnessing low-grade waste heat from the vessel's engine cooling water and exhaust gases. This will reduce fuel consumption and emissions, contributing to NACC's sustainability objectives.
\nThe vessel, which is being built at Zhejiang Xingle Shipbuilding and will be classed by RINA, sets a new standard for sustainable transportation in the cement industry. Climeon's HeatPower 300 system is an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology that generates electricity from low-temperature waste heat. This technology provides flexibility by offering both environmental and economic benefits across different vessel types.
