China's Russian Railway Investments Not Limited to Moscow
China is taking significant steps to develop railway connections westward and is participating in or planning to participate in numerous infrastructure projects across Eurasia. A notable example of these projects is a new terminal near Selyatino outside Moscow, jointly developed by Russia, Kazakhstan, and China. However, China's interest in Russian railways may not be limited to the Moscow region. According to Russian media, China is showing interest in further railway investments across Russia.
\nBoris Titov, spokesman for the President of Russia's special envoy responsible for relations with international organizations to achieve sustainable development goals, stated that they have received signals from China in this direction. Titov said, "We held a very productive meeting with Yang Bin, the new director of Xi'an Dry Port. The international port in Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi Province, is the largest exit point for cargo transportation by road from China westward and on return routes. And of course, it is also important for railway trade with Russia."
\nXi'an Dry Port, like the center in Selyatino, is ready to provide land for the construction of logistics centers and warehouses. However, the Chinese side does not want to limit itself to the Moscow region alone. Titov said, "Our partners are ready to invest in the reconstruction of railway terminals in other regions of the country, if local authorities show interest."
