Bombardier Raises Aircraft Delivery Targets for 2024

Bombardier is planning to increase production capacity with aircraft delivery targets of between 150 and 155 units in 2024. The Canada-based aircraft manufacturer successfully achieved its 2023 target of 138 aircraft deliveries. Behind this success lie strategies aimed at easing supply chain pressures.

The company's Supply Chain Manager Shauna Gamble noted that the number of teams working with suppliers has grown from 30 in 2022 to over 50 today. Teams support suppliers through information transfer, on-site training, and coaching methods.

Bombardier raised its 2024 targets based on supplier delivery speeds. While post-pandemic labor, material, and transportation issues have stabilized, fluctuations in financial markets, geopolitical issues, and supplier quality have hindered recoveries that lasted longer than expected. The company reordered its programs in 2023, slowing some while accelerating others. In the first half of 2024, it plans to build inventory and then execute deliveries at higher volumes.

Closely monitoring supply chain trends, Bombardier notes that situations such as facility relocations within the supplier ecosystem can cause production delays. Additionally, increased government regulations on material usage and accelerating digitalization are improving operations by providing multi-layered visibility across supply chains.
