Arkas Expands Fleet with Six Eco-Design Vessels

Arkas announced plans to expand its fleet with six new-generation eco-design container vessels valued at $360 million. The move will bring the company's total vessel count to 55 and boost its TEU capacity to 112,230. Arkas secured long-term financing through an agreement with CIMC Financial Leasing, enabling the fleet expansion and modernization.

Arkas, along with representatives from China Shipbuilding Trading Co, CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard, and CIMC Financial Leasing, signed a partnership agreement covering vessels to be delivered in 2028. The Turkish maritime company has initiated procurement of the six new vessels. Each vessel will have a capacity of 4,300 TEU, making them the largest-capacity vessels in Arkas's fleet, and will be sourced from China's CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard.

Lucien Arkas, Chairman of the Board at Arkas Holding, commented: "Now, for the first time in Turkey, we are ordering eco-design vessels from China. These environmentally friendly vessels will enable us to transport more cargo with less fuel, bringing us closer to our sustainability targets. This is a step toward both modernizing and expanding our fleet."
