The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Strategy Development Directorate held a "Net Zero Transport Strategy: Mode-Based Maritime Thematic Evaluation" meeting under its Thematic Participatory Planning Workshop. The workshop addressed the green transition process and sustainable transport goals of the maritime sector.

Public institutions, industry representatives, and experts attended the meeting. Dr. Serkan Öter represented NAVTEK at the workshop, where participants emphasized that achieving net zero emissions in maritime transport requires more than technological advancements. Strategic planning, feasible roadmaps, financing models, and cross-sector collaboration were identified as critical.

The workshop evaluated low- and zero-emission vessels, energy efficiency, alternative fuel systems, and sustainable maritime solutions. Discussions focused on integrating alternative fuel technologies such as LNG, ammonia, methanol, and hydrogen into the maritime fleet.

NAVTEK continues to contribute to Türkiye's maritime sector green transition efforts with its engineering infrastructure and eco-friendly maritime technologies. The company plays a pioneering role in ship design, hydrodynamic optimization, and emission reduction technologies.

Türkiye is shaping its national strategy in line with IMO 2050 net zero emissions targets. This workshop aims to bring together public and private sector actors to take concrete steps toward reducing the maritime sector's carbon footprint.
