The shareholders of RX/SeaPort, the Port of Antwerp-Bruges and APZI — the federation of private port operators — have reached agreement on principles for merging the RX/SeaPort and NxtPort digital platforms into a single, integrated system. The new entity will be managed under the name RX/NxtPort and represents a significant step in the ongoing digitalisation of the maritime and logistics chain at Antwerp-Bruges.

The long-term objective is to build a single integrated platform capable of meeting current operational needs while enabling shared applications across the port community. By eliminating parallel system development for common needs such as customs export, import and transit processes, the partners aim to invest more efficiently in digital solutions.

Sector-specific requirements will continue to receive dedicated attention. RoRo and ferry applications developed under RX/SeaPort will be maintained and evolved in consultation with relevant user groups. William Demoor, Chief Customer Relations Officer at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, described the integration as "an essential first step toward a fully digitalised supply chain with impact extending beyond the port's own boundaries."

APZI Chair Marc Adriansens said the scale and investment capacity created by consolidation form the foundation for delivering on the port community's digital ambitions. Kristian Vanderwaeren, Administrator-General of Belgian Customs and Excise, added that aligning logistics and customs processes digitally would improve both handling efficiency and customs oversight of the logistics chain.
