MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company announced new Freight All Kinds (FAK) rates from the Far East to Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Black Sea. The revised rates take effect on May 15, 2026 and run until further notice — but not beyond May 31, 2026. Scope covers all major Far East ports, including Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia.
For shipments to Northern Europe, rates are set at USD 2,700 for 20-ft containers and USD 4,500 for 40-ft units. West Mediterranean and Adriatic rates are USD 3,250 (20 ft) and USD 4,500 (40 ft); East Mediterranean USD 3,400 and USD 4,600. Black Sea shipments are priced at USD 3,450 (20 ft) and USD 4,700 (40 ft).
Higher rates apply on North African destinations. Algeria rates reach USD 5,150 (20 ft) and USD 6,900 (40 ft); Libya sits at USD 4,850 and USD 6,200; Morocco (Casablanca) at USD 4,050 and USD 5,500; Tunisia at USD 4,950 and USD 6,500.
Rates apply on a port-to-port basis, with additional charges for out-ports. They include the base ocean freight plus the Global Fuel Surcharge (GFS) and Emission Control Area (ECA) fees. Carbon-related surcharges, terminal handling and other local charges may also apply. IMO-class cargo and high-value commodities are excluded.
