Japanese automotive giant Honda has opened the Honda Türkiye Motorcycle Factory at the İzmir Aliağa Organized Industrial Zone with a capacity of 100,000 units. The site spans 100,000 m² with 45,000 m² covered and is set to create roughly 300 jobs aligned with its annual production capacity.

The opening was attended by İzmir Deputy Governor Nusret Şahin, Aliağa District Governor Zekeriya Güney, Aliağa Mayor Serkan Acar and Aliağa OIZ Board Chair Haluk Tezcan. Hans De Jaeger, President of Honda Motor Europe, called the investment a "strong indicator of confidence in the market, of Türkiye's importance in our global business and of our commitment to long-term cooperation and shared prosperity." Satoru Yamada, President of Honda Türkiye, said the facility is a clear sign of Honda's strong belief in Türkiye and the company's long-term vision.

Bülent Kılıçer, Vice President of Honda Türkiye, said the first model produced is the PCX 125cc scooter at around 130 kg, with city fuel consumption of just 2 litres per 100 km. Single-shift capacity is 100,000 units; with a second shift, output rises to 150,000 and then 200,000. Globally, Honda continues to produce in 38 factories across 24 countries.

Localization is a top strategic priority. Kılıçer said initial employment of 300 will rise to roughly 750-800 as localisation deepens. At full capacity, monthly output reaches 7,000-8,000 units and up to 10,000-11,000 with a second shift. In 2026, Türkiye's motorcycle parc surpassed 7 million; Honda holds about 25% market share and has been the country's best-selling motorcycle brand for 13 years running, with sales of 72,000 last year and a record 165,000 the year before.
