Mercedes-Benz Turk R&D Center completed the rigorous winter tests of the 2026 season. The center, which approves road tests for all Mercedes-Benz and Setra branded buses, successfully tested the eIntouro electric bus in Erzurum. Passing tests in winter conditions and snow at altitudes up to roughly 2,400 metres above sea level, eIntouro is now preparing for summer tests.
Mercedes-Benz Turk's bus R&D test unit ran 300,000 kilometres of road testing with 11 different vehicles in the 2026 winter season. Unveiled by Daimler Buses at Busworld last year, eIntouro logged 45,000 kilometres of road tests. Driving across stage combinations of varied road types, all systems and components of the vehicle were tested.
Test routes span temperatures from minus 30 to plus 45 degrees Celsius and altitudes from sea level to 2,400 metres. Winter tests run in Erzurum, while summer tests are conducted in Adana-Mersin and Izmir regions. This allows the climate and usage conditions vehicles may encounter worldwide to be simulated in Türkiye.
Mercedes-Benz Turk Executive Board President Suer Sulun: "Türkiye is strengthening its R&D hub status thanks to its engineering capability, strong R&D infrastructure and unique geographic diversity. Our extensive testing processes provide critical data not just for Türkiye but for global Daimler Truck and Buses operations."
