Lomé Container Terminal (LCT) in Togo is set to take delivery of two Konecranes SMV 4632 TC5 reach stackers, expanding its cargo handling fleet. The order strengthens the long-term relationship between LCT and Konecranes as the terminal scales container capacity. LCT has worked with Konecranes since opening the terminal in 2014.
LCT already operates a sizeable Konecranes fleet, including 32 RTGs powered by electric busbars. The new reach stackers will be deployed for yard container handling, while the empty container handler fleet will be repurposed for other duties. The equipment will be supplied with support from Paterson Simons, Konecranes' distributor in West and Central Africa. The new units will replace older Konecranes lift trucks, refreshing the operational fleet profile.
The new reach stackers are fitted with Konecranes' TRUCONNECT telematics system for remote monitoring and performance data. Bernard Abboud, Technical Director at Lomé Container Terminal, said the equipment has proven reliable and durable, with fleet standardisation simplifying maintenance operations. John Elisson, Regional Manager MEA at Konecranes Lift Trucks, said the order reflects the strong partnership between Konecranes and LCT.
