Honda announced the commercial launch of eQuad, a four-wheeled electric cargo vehicle developed under its Fastport brand for the last-mile delivery market. The company unveiled its first major partnership with scooter-share operators Bird and Spin.
eQuad will be used in dense urban areas for battery swapping, maintenance and scooter repositioning. Honda Fastport General Manager Jose Wyszogrod said the vehicle was designed to address rising urban congestion, emissions and operating costs.
The vehicle is built in a modular way for use across parcel delivery, grocery distribution, food service and direct-to-consumer fulfillment. Honda offers it together with a fleet-as-a-service model that bundles the hardware with the software needed to run operations.
