Konecranes is deploying electric empty container handler technology in the Americas for the first time. Two E-ACE 7/8 ECC 90 electric empty container handlers will be delivered to Transtec World's container depot at the Port of Santos in Brazil. The order was placed in Q4 2025 with delivery scheduled for Q2 2026. The units will support stacking and repositioning operations across Transtec World's multi-yard network.
Transtec World, one of the largest container depot operators at the Port of Santos, manages eight yards and handles more than 710,000 containers annually. The new electric units are intended to support high-frequency container movement and yard efficiency. Transtec World Operational Director Rogério Oliveira said they chose Konecranes for its brand quality and strong local support in Brazil.
Konecranes' electric ECC series offers zero emissions, lower noise, and operational cost advantages. The near-zero carbon footprint over the operating life of the units directly supports ports' sustainability targets. This first deployment in the Americas is expected to set a benchmark for other container depot operators in the region. Brazil is taking a leading role in electric port equipment adoption across Latin America.
