The Altay branch of the Federal Centre for Agricultural Products Safety and Quality Assurance has controlled flour samples from the first shipment from that region designated for Hong Kong. Samples were tested for pesticides, toxic elements, plant pests, mineral contaminants, and assessed for organoleptic properties — taste, smell, colour, gluten quality and quantity, whiteness, and grade.

The tests confirmed full compliance of the product with contract requirements. On February 20, the cargo was loaded on board a train bound for Vladivostok. From there it will be shipped to the destination by sea. Prior to this shipment, Hong Kong had never imported grain products from the Altay region.

Altay is known as an important agricultural hub in Russia's West Siberian region. The area is recognised for its high-quality durum wheat and flour production capacity. Russia's efforts to diversify grain exports into Asian markets make this first Hong Kong shipment a strategic step. Vladivostok occupies a key position as a gateway to Southeast Asian markets via Far East sea terminals. The intermodal movement from train to road and sea creates an efficient corridor for Russian grain to reach Hong Kong tables.
