CMA CGM has added its 400th owned vessel to its fleet with the delivery of CMA CGM MONTE CRISTO, the first of six methanol-powered containerships. The 16,204-TEU vessel forms part of CMA CGM's asset-led fleet strategy and broader effort to improve operational efficiency and reduce emissions. It is one of more than 650 vessels operated globally by the group and will sail under the Maltese flag.

Built at DSIC Tianjin Shipyard, the vessel measures 366 metres in length with a 51-metre beam and is equipped with around 1,000 reefer plugs. It has a crew of 23 and is commanded by Captain Predrag Vojvodic. The CMA CGM MONTE CRISTO is the group's 11th methanol-capable containership, with a total of 24 on order. CMA CGM plans to operate around 200 dual-fuel LNG and methanol vessels by 2031 as part of its Net Zero targets.

The vessel's main routings will be used on advanced Asia–Europe service lanes, contributing to the formation of a low-carbon Asia–Mediterranean corridor. The pace of CMA CGM's dual-fuel investment creates a favourable trajectory toward the carrier's long-term carbon intensity goals; it will also provide an operating cost advantage as the methanol price curve declines.
