Sirius Insight and Cambridge Pixel Partner on AI-Powered Maritime Surveillance Solution

Sirius Insight has partnered with Cambridge Pixel to develop an AI-powered maritime surveillance solution for monitoring and situational awareness of the UK coastline. Sirius Insight has integrated Cambridge Pixel's radar tracking software into its services, enabling the use of radar video data from ship radars.

\n

According to Cambridge Pixel, this radar data is combined with additional track reports such as Automatic Identification System (AIS) to create a more comprehensive view of maritime activities. After being detected by radar, pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras automatically focus on targets. These images are then analyzed by a computer vision system that classifies the target's activities.

\n

\n

Data stored in the cloud supports real-time monitoring and alerts for unusual activities such as vessels not broadcasting AIS signals, harmful fishing practices, or illegal smuggling. This facilitates timely interventions and inter-agency cooperation.

\n

\n

Malcolm Glaister, CEO of Sirius Insight, said: "We are pleased to partner with Cambridge Pixel on this project. Working with a company that has experience with some of the world's largest defense firms has helped us develop capabilities that enhance maritime safety and security. This collaboration is a testament to the UK maritime sector's commitment to innovation."

\n

\n

The project encompasses Cambridge Pixel's modular software solutions, including AVx Video Link and RadarWatch. AVx Video Link efficiently distributes camera video from remote locations, enabling viewing, recording, and analysis, while RadarWatch provides real-time visualization of sensor data, maps, and video streams from multiple cameras and radars.

\n

\n

David Johnson, CEO of Cambridge Pixel, stated: "RadarWatch works seamlessly with many different radar and camera sensors. By implementing augmented viewing, we enable targets to be labeled within camera video imagery, which allows for faster, clearer, and better-informed decisions. It is an ideal partnership with Sirius Insight's pioneering AI technology."

\n

\n

This partnership is viewed as a significant step in developing AI-powered technologies aimed at enhancing maritime safety and security.
