Peninsula has increased bio-fuel storage and blending capacity at Rotterdam's Chane Terminal with nine new tanks with 30,000 m³ capacity; a second phase to be completed in 2026 will bring total capacity to 110,000 m³.

International maritime fuel supplier Peninsula has expanded its infrastructure at the Port of Rotterdam by commissioning a new bio-fuel storage and blending facility at Chane Terminal. According to the company's statement, the project represents a strategic investment toward low-carbon fuel solutions, which are experiencing growing demand in the global maritime sector.

Phase 1: 30,000 m³ capacity, nine new tanks

The first phase of the project has become fully operational and includes nine bio-fuel tanks with a total volume of 30,000 cubic meters. These tanks enable safe storage and blending of ISCC-certified sustainable bio-fuels.

The new installation includes:

  • 3 wharves,

  • 7 barge berths (for barges up to 135 meters),

  • A separate marine vessel wharf
This infrastructure also enables inter-terminal transfers with major oil companies, accelerating logistics.

Phase 2: Expansion to 110,000 m³ capacity in 2026

The second phase is planned to come online in January 2026. This phase will add eight new tanks and bring total storage capacity to 110,000 m³. This scale will position Peninsula as one of Europe's largest low-carbon fuel hubs.

Infrastructure capable of blending all types of bio-fuels

The facility has been designed to support all bio-fuel blends used in maritime operations.
Blending capabilities include:

  • B5, B10, B20, B30,

  • Mid-level blends,

  • Fully bio-fuel B100
    .

This capability gives Peninsula the advantage of controlling product quality and blending ratios in-house. This represents a critical capability for bunker suppliers seeking to offer customers customized low-carbon solutions.

ISCC-certified facility serving the green bunker market

The new facility at Chane Terminal:

  • Is ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) certified,

  • Is NEA registered,

  • Complies with EU renewable fuel standards.

This positions Peninsula to offer a broader product portfolio in compliance with low-carbon fuel market regulations.

A significant step in Peninsula's global strategy

Peninsula is a commercial fuel supplier managing an extensive global bunker supply network. The company:

  • manages fuel supply operations,

  • distribution and logistics networks,

  • coastal and offshore supply solutions
    using its own assets.

This expansion in Rotterdam is significant for Peninsula as it:

  • responds to rising demand for low-carbon marine fuels,

  • strengthens its competitive position in the European bunker market,

  • prepares the company for emission regulations under IMO and EU ETS
    .

According to Peninsula's statement, the facility will offer maritime customers greater fuel choice flexibility while making the company's portfolio more sustainable as the energy transition progresses.

Key Points:

  • Peninsula opened a 30,000 m³ bio-fuel facility at Rotterdam Chane Terminal.

  • Phase 2 will bring total capacity to 110,000 m³ (January 2026).

  • Blending capability for all bio-fuel mixtures: B5–B100.

  • The facility is ISCC certified and NEA registered.

  • 3 wharves, 7 barge berths, and a marine vessel wharf are available.

  • Peninsula is substantially expanding its capacity in the low-carbon bunker market.
