A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk) has expanded its air cargo operations by launching a new air cargo gateway in Miami, Florida in April, serving as a full-service transit hub solution. The Miami gateway will serve as a critical node in Maersk's global air cargo network. The gateway is seen as a strategic addition that will provide connectivity from Asia, Europe, and the United States to Latin America.

The new gateway in Miami will focus on transshipping goods from Europe and Asia to Latin America while offering competitive freight and passenger capacity. This move, targeting exports from North America to Latin America as well as Asian markets supporting Latin American supply chains, aims to provide advantages through cost-effective U.S. routes.

The 90,000 square-foot facility expects significant southbound flows and holds important certifications such as U.S. Customs bonded Container Freight Station (CFS) and Certified Cargo Screening Facility (CCSF). Brent Mayhew, Regional Air Cargo Director for North America, stated that with this new addition in Miami, the company provides customers with structured routing and seamless truck connections, delivering efficient and reliable integrated logistics solutions. Fabio Acerbi, Regional Air Cargo Director for Latin America, noted that the Miami Gateway serves as an alternative routing option offering predictable transit times from the global network, opening new opportunities for Latin American customers by supporting export markets in North America and Asia.
