Asyaport Sets Turkey Record with February 2024 Breakthrough
Asyaport, Turkey's largest transit container port, set a new national record in February 2024 by handling over 206,000 TEU in just 29 days. This achievement built on the experience gained last year when the port welcomed 1,033 container ships and handled 24 million tonnes of cargo. Benefiting positively from the situation in the Red Sea, Asyaport played a critical role in transshipping loads from Northern Europe to Gulf countries. With MSC's choice of Asyaport, the port's handling volume increased further.
Asyaport aims to reach 4 million TEU as its 2024 target and plans to expand its capacity from 2.5 million TEU to 4 million TEU through a port expansion project. With these investments, Asyaport seeks to contribute to Turkey's economy by handling more transit containers and generating greater foreign exchange revenue.
