Ehime Ocean Line is adding a new port to its ITX container service connecting Taiwan, South Korea and Japan. According to sector tracking platform DynaLiners, Hososhima Port, located on the eastern Kyushu coast of Japan, will now be included in the service on a biweekly basis.

Following the update, the new ITX service rotation is: Keelung (Taiwan), Taichung (Taiwan), Kaohsiung (Taiwan), Naha (Okinawa), Yatsushiro (Japan), Busan (South Korea), Matsuyama (Japan), Oita (Japan), Hososhima (Japan), Shibushi (Japan), and back to Keelung via Naha. The Hososhima call will be executed once every two weeks as part of the service schedule.

Located in the northern region of Miyazaki Prefecture and designated as a Special Major Port in 1951, Hososhima is an industrial port handling the majority of the region's overseas exports. The port plays a critical role in regional trade with modern infrastructure supporting container and general cargo operations. Ehime Ocean Line's move is seen as part of a strategy to expand its feeder network in the Western Pacific region.
