Mars Logistics Launches Two New European Rail Services Same Day: Halkalı-Luxembourg and Kartepe-Duisburg
Mars Logistics launched two new rail services in a single day, expanding its intermodal network. The Halkalı-Luxembourg and Kartepe-Duisburg lines connect different Turkish departure points to different European destinations, an operation requiring high-coordination planning.
The Halkalı-Luxembourg service carries 34 trailers for deliveries to France, Belgium and Western Germany. The Kartepe-Duisburg service moves 38 containers, leveraging Marmaray to deliver into the Ruhr region. Both run weekly round-trip with an 8-day transit time.
Erdin Erengül, Deputy General Manager for Rail at Mars Logistics, said launching two distinct origin-destination pairs on the same day demonstrates more than capacity — it requires planning, coordination and on-the-ground operational mastery. He underlined that rail and intermodal transport remain among the most critical models for balancing speed, cost and environmental impact.
The company's rail investments also support its sustainability agenda. Mars Logistics reduces carbon emissions while optimising road usage through intermodal solutions. The company already operates rail services on the Halkalı-Kolín, Halkalı-Craiova, Halkalı-Budapest and Trieste-Bettembourg corridors, anchoring an extensive Türkiye-Europe intermodal network.
