Singapore has launched OCEANS-X, a new data and application programming interface (API) exchange platform that allows shipping companies and government agencies to exchange trusted data directly. Announced by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the platform supports faster transactions, improved data quality and stronger connectivity between port and shore-side operations.

One of the first services introduced is digital port clearance. Previously, ship masters and agents were required to manually report departures and arrivals via the MPA portal. With OCEANS-X, shipping companies and agents can now link in-house or third-party systems directly to MPA, reducing manual processing, improving accuracy and supporting faster vessel turnaround at the Port of Singapore. The platform also enables electronic exchange of ship certificates between Singapore and partner ports, reducing reliance on paper-based documentation and lowering fraud risk.

MPA confirmed that OCEANS-X currently hosts more than 100 APIs and datasets, with additional digital services to be added in the coming period. Industry stakeholders and startups will be able to develop applications on the platform, while academia and the public will also be able to access selected maritime datasets for research and innovation purposes. The platform is positioned as a cornerstone of Singapore's maritime digital ecosystem.
