Los Angeles and Long Beach ports announced a partnership with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) to create a "Green and Digital Shipping Corridor" across the Pacific Ocean. The plan was unveiled at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) and aims to digitalize the maritime industry and improve efficiency by reducing carbon emissions.

The strategy supports organizations that have taken early steps in reducing carbon emissions in the maritime industry to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions targets at the earliest feasible date. To this end, the three ports will collaborate with stakeholders from the fuel and maritime sectors.

Going forward, a study will be conducted to analyze trade flows and vessel traffic between Singapore, Los Angeles, and Long Beach. This study will guide the development of the corridor, with plans for new participants to join in 2024.
