Siberian Ice Cream Exports: Stable 3,500-Ton Performance in 2025
Siberian Ice Cream Exports: Stable 3,500-Ton Performance in 2025
According to statistics released by Russia's Federal Customs Service, the Siberian region exported 3,500 tons of ice cream during the January–September period of 2025. The monetary equivalent of this volume was calculated at approximately 1.5 billion rubles (approximately 18.5 million dollars). The total export volume remained unchanged on an annual basis, indicating that Siberia's ice cream industry has captured stable demand in foreign markets.
Kazakhstan: The Overwhelmingly Largest Buyer
This year, Siberian ice cream exports went to 12 countries.
The largest market was Kazakhstan, accounting for 69% of total exports. This share represents a 3.8% increase compared to the same period last year. The size of the Kazakhstan market reflects the strong trade relationships between the two regions and Siberian ice cream's established brand value in Central Asia.
The four other major markets following Kazakhstan are:
Mongolia
Belarus
China
Abkhazia
These countries form the core segment of Siberia's foreign market diversification.
Remarkable Growth in Uzbekistan and Armenia
In 2025, ice cream exports to Uzbekistan and Armenia experienced notable surges.
Uzbekistan: Nearly doubled its imports.
Armenia: Increased ice cream imports from Siberia by 4.7 times.
These increases are attributed to stronger supply relationships for Russian products in Central Asian and Caucasian markets, as well as competitive pricing in the ice cream segment.
First Shipments to Turkmenistan
In 2025, ice cream shipments to Turkmenistan were made for the first time. Last year, Turkmenistan had not received any ice cream imports from Siberia in this category. This development indicates the opening of a new market and potentially signals the formation of an expanded Central Asian distribution network.
Novosibirsk Region Leading
42% of Siberia's ice cream exports originated from Novosibirsk region. This share confirms the region's dominant position in terms of both production capacity and its function as a logistics hub.
Estimated factors explaining Novosibirsk's prominence:
strong food processing infrastructure,
logistics advantage along the Trans-Siberian railway,
proximity to road access for Central Asian markets,
concentration of large-scale ice cream producers in the region.
The Big Picture: A Stable Market with High Growth Potential
Although Siberia's 2025 ice cream exports remained unchanged in volume, the increase in the number of destination countries and growing demand in markets such as Uzbekistan, Armenia, and Turkmenistan suggest that the region's export volume could increase in the medium term.
The diversification of regional distribution demonstrates that Russia's trade policy oriented toward Asian markets is also effective in the food products sector.
